Happy Birthday Mum and Dad!

My parents share the same birthday - the 7th September.
This year Dad was 74 and Mum was 70.
My sister offered to host a party for family and friends.
Some of my parents oldest friends came down from Manchester
and over from London.
It was great to catch up with people that we see very rarely..

My sister set up the food indoors...

but the weather stayed mild and dry enough for everyone to move into the garden..

Mum had loads of cards and flowers....

....while Dad enjoyed catching up with his oldest friend
(they started Primary school together)

September is a month of celebrations.
Today Mark's father is 79.
In two week's time my parents will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
On the 30th my youngest niece will be 14...
and her father also celebrates his birthday in early October.
Lots more parties to come!

Thank you for all your supportive comments on my last post
 - I really appreciated everything that you wrote.
I've stuck to my plans and I'm 'cautiously optimistic' that things are falling into place.
I've read somewhere that it takes about 3 weeks to embed or change a habit
but I've already noticed the difference in my energy levels and moods
(especially this weekend, when I've had very little time to myself.)
I'm definitely sticking with things this time!

  2. I've just caught up with your previous post after seeing the note at the end of this one (I haven't been here much as my first week was so, so busy!). It sounds very positive at the moment, I hope the changes your making continue to make you feel better and all goes well at school.

Sounds like a very busy month, celebration wise!

  4. How lovely. Your parents are my age. I found a nice afternoon of quietude--I needed to get out into the country and listen to.....silence!!

  5. We have birthdays to celebrate this month too. (Both Yorkshire grandchildrens'). The birthday celebration for your parents must have been a happy occasion with so many of their friends able to join you and your sister in your joint organisation of it. I hope you have a good week with opportunities to rest some of the time.

  6. Happy Birthday to them both. It sounds like you've got a full month ahead with all the celebrations. How lovely for your mum and dad to get together with old friends, especially ones they've known for nearly a lifetime.

  12. I miss having those parties since my parents both passed on. My husband and I always had a cake for each of them for their birthdays...missing that a lot.

Glad you are enjoying your days with them.
